Infant Flathead Syndrome is a serious problem in today’s infants. Flathead Syndrome is also known as Positional Plagiocephaly. It occurs in infants and is marked by the back or side of the head being flattened. There will also be little or no hair growth in the area. The most common cause is an infant spending a lot of time lying on his back with his head resting on flat surfaces such as cribs, strollers or car seats. Babies’ heads are soft to allow for brain growth, so they are susceptible to taking on a flat shape.
Experts say that to prevent baby flat head syndrome, you should try to limit the amount of time that the baby spends in a car-seat, bouncy seat, swing, or other device that puts pressure on the back of her head.
Instead of holding back on all those things babies enjoy you can use a Baby Moon Pillow. The pillow can easily be inserted behind the head of the infant while in any of these situations and will help save his or her head from becoming flat.
